For 2013, we again have some amazing journeys slated for all walks and interests. Our “Babes In The Backcountry” trip offers a women’s specific high-water Middle Fork trip in early June to kick off our season. We are also excited to offer our ever-popular “Gay / Lesbian Friendly” trip on the Middle Fork and, of course, our annual “Wine Tasting and Culinary” extravaganza on the Main Salmon, both of which are off-the-charts in fun factor!
Additionally,we are pleased to announce a September Main Salmon return of Team River Runner, a program that promotes healing through paddling for physically and psychologically wounded veterans. Find out how to DONATE.
Designed for the ladies, our all-female staff of amazing boatwomen will play host, along with Jenna Boisvert of BackCountry Babes, to enjoy the Middle Fork in all its late Spring splendor. From the big Spring water flows to the endless hillsides of wildflowers, this is a trip filled with beauty and adventure, designed around the female river runner and allowing for an incredibly supportive environment to further white water interest and skills. Enjoy some girl time through yoga, fine food and wine, and the magic of the Middle Fork at high water. Hiking enthusiasts are encouraged as this trip allows a bit of extra time to get high above the canyon.
Come join Canyons, as the only gay owned river company in Idaho, for a six-day / five-night adventure on the breathtaking Middle Fork. Whitewater. Hot-springs. Amazing food and wine. Cocktails and RAINBOW FLAGS. This trip is designed for both men and women celebrating the camaraderie of the LGBT community. All “rainbow friendly” guests are welcome… Fantastic and FABULOUS! Spaces fill up fast on this very special trip. Its ON!
Back by popluar demand, this trip features fabulous wines from around the globe as well as from our own home state of Idaho. Joining us, as usual, is Pug Ostling of Boise’s GRAPE ESCAPE. Pug is a true entertainer and enthusiastic sommelier. And bringing her extraordinary culinary skills is Lisa Whisnant, aka “WHIZZY”, our senior guide here at Canyons. Whizzy owns her own restaurant in the winter, BLUE MOON YURT, in McCall. She’ll be serving up dishes like her grilled duck breast with cinnamon cabernet sauce over Napa cabbage and hand cut wontons. Whizzy and Pug perfectly pair wine genius with sensational creative menus. Get ready to EAT, DRINK, (gain a few pounds), AND BE MERRY on the beautiful beaches of the Main Salmon!
A non-profit philanthrophy healing trip on the MAIN SALMON.
This is an amazing journey of new and old veterans who have come to find kayaking and river life as not just therapy but as a way of rediscovering who they are. Whether dealing with the physical loss of a limb, or dealing with the psychological scars of PTSD, these true heroes bond together as we have the great honor to play host to these unbelievable paddlers.
Please call our office to donate or ask how your can help give back to our real heroes as we make this VERY special journey to complete our 2013 season on the river. 888.634.2600
Here at Canyons we hold a philosophy that EVERYONE deserves to experience the magic of river life. We want to share this very healing place that helped shape all of us. If you are interested in helping sponsor a trip or just donating to these causes please just give us a call at 888.634.2600. Or furthermore, if you are passionate about a nonprofit that may be a good fit to host on the river, please let us know. The Middle Fork and Main changed our lives, help us to selflessly influence and better the lives of others.
We have been dialoging with First Descents and are planning a Middle Fork trip for 2014 with cancer patients and survivors. This is a vision still in the works, but we are dedicated to making this incredible journey a reality. Stay tuned and stay strong!
We are currently developing our Gathered Waters Artists Trip slated for 2015. As a forum for artists and photographers, our hopes are to foster and promote art for Idaho youth through this special trip. We are working on funding a variety of artists who create works on the river, plein air style. These works would then get auctioned to support youth programs through the Idaho Commission on the Arts.
"You guys were able to orchestrate a most amazing adventure while keeping all things in balance. You really made a difference in our lives and we are warning you- we are coming back!!! Thanks again for a great vacation!"
