Celebrating Diversity Idaho style! Come gather with Canyons owner/outfitter Greg McFadden, on the banks of the Middle Fork of the Salmon. Explore the wilderness with a colorful mix of characters, new and old friends alike. Enjoy a variety of Old World wines presented by sommelier Rose Manzo, of Aspen, Colorado. Rose owns Harvest Distributing and is an advanced sommelier at Pinons restaurant in downtown Aspen. Rose brings with her a specialty of Rhone wines and a knowledge and zest for the art of winemaking that will make you thirsty to expand your palette. All of the wine selections will be accompanied by our fabulous Canyons menu, with meals like our famous Maryland crab cakes coupled with a full New York strip. Enjoy the peace and quiet of the Middle Fork during this late season time as fall colors start to show and the clear waters are filled with glorious trophy sized trout. This trip will originate at Indian Creek guard station and will require a backcountry flight to get to the put in.
NOTE: ALL of Canyon’s trips are LGBT friendly.
Join Pug Ostling, formerly of Grape Escape wine bar in downtown Boise and our very own “WHIZZY”, Lisa Whisnant, our senior guide here at Canyons. She’ll be serving up spectacular dishes like grilled duck breast with a cinnamon cabernet sauce, while Pug offers a variety of New World wines to pair with each mouthwatering creation. Get ready to Eat, Drink and Be Merry on the beautiful white sand beaches of the Main Salmon! We’ll spend the last night of the trip at the historic Mackay Bar Lodge, before flying off the river the next morning in a backcountry plane (arranged by us) back to Boise or to McCall (depending on whether you are doing the “flight option” or “drive option”). (PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS BACKCOUNTRY FLIGHT OUT FROM MACKAY BAR ON THE LAST DAY OF THE TRIP IS REQUIRED AND IS IN ADDITION TO THE TRIP PRICE)

What’s in the works…
Here at Canyons we hold a philosophy that EVERYONE deserves to experience the magic of river life. We want to share this very healing place that helped shape all of us. If you are interested in helping sponsor a trip or donating to these causes please give Greg a call directly at (970)531-4734. Furthermore, if you are passionate about a nonprofit that may be a good fit to host on the river, please let us know. The Middle Fork and Main have changed our lives, and we are looking to you to help influence and better the lives of others.
CANYONS Guide “Give Backs”.We have our guides choose a non-profit every season to donate a trip too. It is our way of involving all of our family in the giving process. If you are from one of their selected non-profits, expect to hear from one of our guides who will walk you through the booking process and how to use this generous donation to aid in your fundraising efforts.
We are currently developing our Gathered Waters Artists Trip slated for June 19-24, 2018. As a forum for water color artists , our hopes are to foster and promote art for Idaho youth programs through this special trip. In addition to welcoming bookings from artists, we are working on funding a couple of local artists too. All will create works on the river, plein air style. These works would then get auctioned to support youth programs through the Idaho Commission on the Arts. Greg is currently working with JUMP in Boise Idaho to set a date for next June the trip’s original pieces to be shown. Stay tuned for more!
